JOIN OUR MISSION:

The Bilingual Transportation Specialist is responsible for driving and transporting youth, following transportation schedules, and completing assignments, paperwork and/or reporting as required.

OUR GOAL:

Our goal is to provide safe and timely reunification for each child and their family or suitable sponsor.

In partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, our Unaccompanied Children Program provides family reunification and short-term shelter for children who have entered the United States without a guardian. Youth reside in our family-style cottages located on our beautiful 2,000-acre campus while our bilingual staff provide a safe and nurturing environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for driving and transporting youth to and from appointments and other youth related services.
  • Map out routes, itineraries, and destinations.  Complete necessary paperwork and reports according to Agency policy and protocol.
  • Move or carry cargo onto, into, off of, or out of the vehicle(s) being operated and move or carry cargo from the vehicle to the delivery or storage point.
  • Start, stop, steer and control vehicles both on the grounds and over the road.
  • Conduct safety inspection on vehicles prior to operation, including but not limited to checking gauges, fluid levels and tire pressures.
  • Tend to routine maintenance of vehicles operated including detailing exterior and interior of vehicle.
  • Pump gas and potentially air into tires if needed while traveling. Ensure any vehicle damage, maintenance, accidents, etc. are reported according to Agency policy and protocol.
  • Serve as back up for other transportation positions.
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures; follow and support agency mission, vision and values including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • This position will comply with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, including those for ORR, ICE and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of driving experience.
  • Bilingual required (English to Spanish).
  • Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.
  • Varicella Vaccine required OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from a healthcare provider verifying previous infection.
  • MMR (Measles Mumps & Rubella vaccine required OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases.
  • Tdap (Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis) vaccine required.
  • Influenza vaccine required, one dose annually during flu season.
  • Covid: Being fully vaccinated means you have received a primary COVID vaccination series, plus one (1) booster COVID vaccination if you are eligible to be boosted.   You are eligible to receive a booster COVID vaccination 4-5 months following your primary COVID vaccination series, depending on which type of COVID vaccine you received during your primary COVID vaccination series.
  • Physical (Medical Exam) required.
  • Must be able to work 9AM-5PM during new hire orientation to complete TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention), CPR, and Sanctuary training. Must maintain TCI and CPR certification.
  • Required to be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license per Agency guidelines. Travel required.

VARIOUS SCHEDULES INCLUDE EVENING, WEEKENDS, AND OVERNIGHTS:

  • Immediate need for a Transportation Specialist to work overnights from Wednesday through Saturday, 11PM-9AM or 12AM-10AM.
