We are excited to be performing a search for an integrated health system that has a service area consisting of southeastern Ohio and the northwestern parts of West Virginia. They are a growth-oriented health system with a culture that empowers employees to become healthcare leaders of the future.

They are searching for a driven and creative leader to serve as the Director Health Information Services. Reporting to the Senior Revenue Cycle Director, the Director HIS will be responsible for operations and continuous improvements for the Health Information Services Department ensuring effectively implemented process improvements and the safe, timely, accurate processes of health information.

Position Focus Director Health Information Services

  • Oversee, manage and monitor the day-to-day operation of the Health Information Services Department (75 FTE’s).
  • Monitors and measures operational metrics, including quality, productivity and customer service solutions.
  • Responsible for quality initiatives and working with the Quality department on CDI, clinical documentation, and coding education.
  • Remains accessible as a subject matter expert and participates in process improvement projects as impacted by documentation.
  • Manages communications to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains coding guidelines and clinical criteria to support coding function.
  • Prepares and submits reports to authorized medical and governmental agencies.

Requirements for Director Health Information Services

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field with a minimum of three years healthcare related management experience required.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information.
  • Technician (RHIT) certification with five years’ experience in diagnosis and procedure coding in a hospital medical records department using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding guidelines highly desired.
  • Experience with Meditech 6.15 preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all audit and reimbursement systems, coding rules,
  • DRGs, HIPAA and JCAHO laws and standards, medical terminology, CCI edits, MRPs, computer knowledge (Windows based), anatomy, physiology, medical tests and drug therapy as related to disease, and be able to communicate (written and oral) with physicians.
  • Working knowledge of 3M products for coding.
