JOIN OUR MISSION:

The Registered Professional Nurse/RN is responsible for delivering quality nursing care to all clients.  The Registered Nurse provides an initial health assessment of youth entering the facility including but not limited to health history, physical exams, and laboratory tests and provides treatment of emergency and/or serious acute health conditions. 

Small caseload with a Monday through Friday 8AM-4PM or 9AM-5PM schedule.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide nursing services, treatment, and continuity of care for all youth, in conjunction with other practitioners, to ensure health needs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily operation of medical unit; dispense medications to be administered by non-medical staff in the absence of medical personnel.
  • Provide initial health assessments of all newly admitted youth.  Maintain records of all youth health assessments.
  • Conduct clinics daily; assessing, medicating, treating and educating.
  • Treat youth at other scheduled times and deliver first aid / emergency care to youth as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Associate’s degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse’s license.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience; experience working with at-risk youth in an institutional environment preferred.
  • Ability to work with a culturally and economically diverse population.
  • Skills: ability to exercise sound judgment and follow detailed oral or written instructions; demonstrated oral and written communication skills; demonstrated knowledge of the principles of professional nursing, health promotion, disease prevention and nutrition including Federal and State rules and regulations concerning health services; demonstrated knowledge of safety principles and infections control.
